New MyGTCS platform

Introduction

GTC Scotland will launch a new MyGTCS platform in August 2025 to all provisionally registered teachers and their supporters. This will be followed by a rollout to all teachers from January 2026.

This staged launch will allow us to respond to feedback on the new platform and ensure the best experience for users. MyGTCS will continue to develop over time to better meet registrants’ needs.

If you have any questions after reading the following guidance, you can submit these using the feedback form at the bottom of the page.

Provisional Registrants

As a provisionally registered teacher, you do not need to do anything to prepare for the launch of the new MyGTCS platform, apart from to ensure your contact details are up to date.

From August, all provisionally registered teachers will have the same induction recording experience, and those who support them will only need to use one system.

The new platform will provide provisionally registered teachers with a simplified method of recording their progress as they work towards full registration.

Reviewers and supporters

As a supporter, reviewer or observer of provisional registrants, you do not need to take any action now.

Experienced teachers with the Standard for Full Registration continue to be central to the induction process. We rely on teachers to ensure that fair decisions are made to award full registration. We know that teachers take their responsibilities in this regard seriously. This is key to trusted teaching.

Specific guidance outlining the roles of supporters, reviewers and observers will be available from May 2025.

Feedback

The development of this new platform is informed by both formal and informal engagement with and feedback from teachers, including provisionally registered teachers, their supporters and probation managers.

We held service design workshops and interviews to inform the design of the new platform, and ensure that it better meets registrants’ needs.

If you have any questions about the new MyGTCS platform and its roll-out that has not been covered by the guidance, please use the feedback form to get in touch.

We will continue to update guidance pages appropriately and share them in future updates.
