Introduction
GTC Scotland launched the new MyGTCS platform in August 2025. The new platform brings together the existing MyGTCS, provisional registration profiles and MyPL. It was rolled out to all provisionally registered teachers and their supporters in August, and will be followed by a rollout to all teachers from 2026.
This staged launch will allow us to respond to feedback on the new platform and ensure the best experience for users. MyGTCS will continue to develop over time to better meet registrants’ needs.

Provisional registrants
The new MyGTCS platform has launched to all registrants who hold a Provisional Registration. Invite links have been sent to these registrants to activate their new accounts.
From August, all provisionally registered teachers have the same induction recording experience, and those who support them only need to use one system.
The new platform provides provisionally registered teachers with a simplified method of recording their progress as they work towards Full Registration.
Reviewers and supporters
The new MyGTCS platform has launched to all registrants who hold a Provisional Registration. As a supporter, reviewer or observer of provisional registrants, you do not need to take any action now.
Experienced teachers with the Standard for Full Registration continue to be central to the induction process. We rely on teachers to ensure that fair decisions are made to award full registration. We know that teachers take their responsibilities in this regard seriously. This is key to trusted teaching.

Phase 2 of the rollout will see all teachers having access to the new MyGTCS platform.
Rigorous testing for the new MyGTCS is very important. This testing has taken more time than originally predicted and has impacted our rollout timetable.
The phased rollout will take place from the beginning of July. We will email you when it’s time to onboard to the new system. You can continue to use the existing MyGTCS and MyPL platforms until then.
Data migration
The information you currently hold in MyPL will be securely transferred from the existing platform to the new MyGTCS.
To minimise the impact, we will be migrating individuals and their data on to the new MyGTCS in staged groups. This will take place over the summer holiday period.

Phase 2 rollout FAQs
Listed below are the key steps in the rollout plan and more detail on how it will happen:
Teachers and other users will be brought on to new MyGTCS in 6 groups based on Professional Update confirmation year:
- PU confirmation year group 2025 to 2026
- PU confirmation year group 2026 to 2027
- PU confirmation year group 2027 to 2028
- PU confirmation year group 2028 to 2029
- PU confirmation year group 2029 to 2030
- All others
As each group is transferred to new MyGTCS, data/records held in the existing MyPL system will be automatically transferred to the new MyGTCS system. The data/records are securely stored and transferred files will be visible to view when first logging in to new MyGTCS.
The existing MyGTCS and MyPL platforms will be unavailable to all teachers from 2 July onwards. This will allow us to make best use of the time during the summer holidays and transfer data from the old system to the new MyGTCS.
Teachers will receive an email when they are able to login to new MyGTCS. We understand that this activity will take place during a holiday period. No immediate action is required unless a teacher wants to activate their account at that time. There is no time-limit to accessing their account, activation links will be sent every 30 days until the account is activated.
Once a teacher logs into new MyGTCS and activates their account, they will see their transferred data/records and be able to start recording new professional learning activities immediately.
Throughout the transfer to new MyGTCS and after it has taken place, we continue to hold all data/records that we do currently on existing systems. If a teacher believes that anything is not yet visible to them and they need access to it, they should contact us and we will ensure they get access.
For those teachers who already have access to new MyGTCS because of their involvement with provisionally registered teacher(s), they will have access to the ability to record their own professional learning in their existing account as soon as the system goes live for the first group. Their own MyPL data will then be transferred into and will appear in their existing new MyGTCS account in line with the phasing of their PU year group.
Employers may require teachers to use an alternative platform such as Gateway CPD Manager. Teachers can continue to use this system to record their learning and can confirm their PU as normal during the transfer to the new MyGTCS system. We have been working with Gateway to build integration between the new MyGTCS and CPD Manager and current functionality is remaining in place.
MyGTCS rollout feedback
The development of this new platform is informed by both formal and informal engagement with and feedback from teachers, including provisionally registered teachers, their supporters and probation managers.
We held service design workshops and interviews to inform the design of the new platform, and ensure that it better meets registrants’ needs.
We will continue to update guidance pages appropriately and share them in future updates.
If you have any suggestions for areas that have not been covered by the current guidance, please use the feedback form to get in touch. Please do not use the feedback form for technical advice and assistance with logging into the MyGTCS platform - it is an anonymous form meaning we will not be able to directly respond to any queries.
