Introduction
GTC Scotland maintains Professional Standards for lecturers, underpinned by the themes of values, sustainability and leadership.
These Professional Standards were developed through partnership work between the College Development Network and GTC Scotland and were launched in November 2018.
They are designed as a benchmark for learning and teaching, and to enhance and promote professional learning.
The Scottish Government gave responsibility for these Professional Standards to GTC Scotland.
The Standard for Provisional Registration (Lecturers in Scotland’s Colleges) came into effect in April 2023. This Standard provides a transitional route to registration for college lectures who do not yet hold a GTC Scotland-recognised teaching qualification or the equivalent for those qualified outside Scotland.
