New platform: guidance for supporters, reviewers and observers
GTC Scotland launched a new MyGTCS platform in August 2025 to all provisionally registered teachers and their supporters. This will be followed by a rollout to all teachers from early 2026.
The new platform replaces the electronic and paper-based profiles used for the Teacher Induction Scheme and Flexible Route. From August, all provisionally registered teachers have the same induction recording experience, and those who support them only need to use one system.
The new platform provides provisionally registered teachers with a simplified method of recording their progress as they work towards full registration.
They will:
- reflect and plan, recording their progress in MyGTCS
- decide who they share their reflections and progress with
- link with their supporters
- ensure they receive the feedback they need to successfully achieve full registration
- continue to meet existing requirements and expectations of the induction experience.
Supporters, reviewers and observers
Experienced teachers with the Standard for Full Registration continue to be central to the induction process. We rely on teachers to ensure that fair decisions are made to award full registration. We know that teaches take their responsibilities in this regard seriously. This is key to trusted teaching.
Specific guidance outlining the roles of supporters, reviewers and observers is available:
- What is expected of me as a reviewer of a provisionally registered teacher
- What is expected of me as a supporter of a provisionally registered teacher
- What is expected of me as an observer of a provisionally registered teacher
During the rollout, supporters will have access to both the current and new platforms. From August 2025 to early 2026, supporters will use the new platform for induction profiles, and the current platform to complete any functions related to Professional Update using MyPL.
Accessing the new MyGTCS
Supporters will be invited to activate their new MyGTCS account when a provisionally registered teacher requests an association (a profile link) with them. This is similar to the currently process for Flexible Route profiles, where the provisionally registered teacher invites their supporters to sign off records by email.
Learning how to use the new MyGTCS platform
We have designed the new platform to be intuitive and easy to use.
It includes a resources area, which is available any time registrants need to learn more about the platform, or refresh their knowledge.
Our customer and digital support teams are also there to support with any queries about using the new platform.
