Our Fitness to Teach Rules govern the hearings process. A Fitness to Teach Panel is composed of a minimum of three people comprising a majority of registered teachers and at least one lay person. Hearings generally take place at our office at Clerwood House, Edinburgh between the hours of 09:30 and 17:00, Monday to Friday. We are currently updating the information booklets that explain more about our hearings process in line with our new Fitness to Teach Rules which take effect from 21 August 2017 – we will post our updated materials as soon as they are ready.
