Reviewer and supporter statements
Reviewer statements
A reviewer can make a statement or give feedback when:
- giving a progress report
- making a recommendation on Full Registration
Supporter statements
When a provisionally registered teacher (PRT) submits a teaching block and requests a progress report, they can request a supporter statement. This statement should give an overall summary of the PRT's induction progress, including:
- areas where the PRT is performing well
- areas for improvement
The purpose of this statement is to inform the reviewer’s decision.
What should be included in a reviewer or supporter statement?
We recommend that statements reference the 3 areas of the Standard for Full Registration (SFR) to help structure your comments:
- Being a teacher in Scotland
- Professional knowledge and understanding
- Professional skills and abilities
If you are a reviewer, and:
- mark the PRT's progress as a 'cause for concern' or 'unsatisfactory
- make a recommendation not to award Full Registration
you should outline which areas of the SFR are not yet met or are or are causing concern.
