Minimum requirements for Teacher Induction Scheme profiles
Teaching block 1 (August to January)
- Development plans: 2 development plans (one at the start of the teaching block and the other at its conclusion), each including a minimum of 1 entry in each area of the Standard for Full Registration (Being a Teacher in Scotland; Professional Knowledge and Understanding; Professional Skills and Abilities)
- Professional discussions: 12 supporter meetings (1 per week)
- Observations: 5 observed teaching sessions
- Learning activities: 2 entries in each of the 3 areas of the Standard for Full Registration (Being a Teacher in Scotland; Professional Knowledge and Understanding; Professional Skills and Abilities)
Progress report outcomes
There are 3 possible outcomes from your progress report at the end of teaching block 1. Your reviewer (the headteacher) can assess your progress as:
- Satisfactory
- Cause for Concern; or
- Unsatisfactory
If your progress is identified as Satisfactory, you will be asked to complete one further teaching block: Teaching block 2 (January to June)
If your progress is identified as Cause for Concern or Unsatisfactory, you will be asked to complete a further two teaching blocks: Teaching block 2 (January to March) and teaching block 3 (April to June).

Your progress was assessed as Satisfactory (January to June)
- Development plans: 2 development plans (one at the start of the teaching block and the other at its conclusion), each including a minimum of 1 entry in each area of the Standard for Full Registration (Being a Teacher in Scotland; Professional Knowledge and Understanding; Professional Skills and Abilities)

Please note, if the outcome of your progress report at the end of teaching block 1 was ‘Satisfactory’, you are not required to complete a third teaching block. Your teaching block 2 will run from January to June.
