I would like to know how many teachers in Scotland have Art & Design, Drama and English within their registration?

Response

We refer to your request for information (FOI 26-27/001) dated 11 April 2026 which we have handled under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA).

You asked:

“I would like to know how many teachers in Scotland have Art & Design, Drama and English within their registration?”

Our response:

As data extracted on 17 April 2025, there were 36,556 teachers who held registration in Secondary (Subject) Education. Of those, 2,042 hold registration in Secondary (Art and Design) Education and 889 hold registration in Secondary (Drama) Education.

There are no registrants who currently hold Secondary (Subject) Education in Art and Design, Drama and English.

Please note that figures contain the total number of registrations that relate to the subject descriptor – for example the numbers given for ‘Art and Design’ contain the number of registrations on the Register for ‘Art and Design’ and ‘Art’. This response excludes any registrants holding Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
