Full request

Please could you provide any information held about whether any changes to the Fitness to Teach Threshold Policy which potentially redefined the usual meaning of words such as “frivolous” used in the previously approved version of the Fitness to Teach Rules would require approval of the Lord President. What I am looking for here is any recorded information such as internal or external correspondence or documents which state whether or not such approval would be necessary.

Response

I refer to your request for information dated 21 March 2024 (FOI 23 -24 / 99) for information related to the Fitness to Teach Threshold Policy which we have handled under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act (FOISA).

Specifically, you asked for recorded information discussing whether approval of the Fitness to Teach Threshold Policy by the Lord President of the General Teaching Council for Scotland would be necessary. I can confirm there are no records held discussing this and have therefore applied section 17(1)(b) of FOISA to this response as this information is not held.

I hope this information is helpful. If you are dissatisfied with this response, you may contact informationgovernance@gtcs.org.ukto request GTCS conduct a review of this decision.
