What are the possible outcomes of the assessment of my application?
There are three possible outcomes of the assessment of your application:
1. Provisional Registration
This type of registration will be awarded if you meet the teacher education and academic study requirements for registration in one or more of the available GTC Scotland registration categories.
2. Provisional (Conditional) Registration
This type of registration will be awarded if: You meet the teacher education requirements for registration in one or more of the available GTC Scotland secondary education registration subjects, but you only partly meet the academic study requirements for registration in the secondary education subject(s) covered by your teacher education and the shortfall is not so significant that Provisional (Conditional) Registration cannot be awarded. Provisionally conditionally registered teachers are permitted to teach in Scotland, however, they need to fulfil the condition(s) on their registration and complete the minimum period of teaching and meet the Standard for Full Registration within 3 years of becoming registered.
3. Refusal of Registration
If your application for registration is refused this means that you have not met the academic study and/or teacher education requirements for registration with GTC Scotland and the shortfall is deemed so significant that we are unable to award Provisional (Conditional) Registration. You will receive full reasons for this decision in writing.
