Criminal records check (if applicable) If you were born in a country outside the UK and resided in this country until adulthood, or have spent 3 months of more living outside the UK within the last 10 years, you should obtain a criminal record check confirming that you do not have a criminal record in the said non UK country. We will require a national check for the specific country e.g. FBI for the USA or RCMP/CPIC for Canada. You must obtain this document before you submit your application. Please allow time for this as some countries can take several months to issue a criminal record check. For further information on how to obtain a police check please visit Canada Visa. Although this website is called Canada Visa, it provides a list of all countries, providing useful addresses, Email addresses and contact telephone numbers to help you obtain an overseas police check. If you are based in the UK and require a check from the FBI you may obtain this directly from the FBI or via one of their accredited 'channelers' at www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks/list-of-fbi-approved-channelers-for-departmental-order-submissions. Please note some police authorities require an official statement from GTC Scotland confirming why the criminal record check is required. If this is the case, please contact us directly via email to registration@gtcs.org.uk before you apply and we will issue you with such a statement. We will only accept statements issued within the last 6 months. Older statements will not be accepted and your application will fail. If you have re-located to the country of origin for longer than a 3 month stay you will require an up to date criminal record check.
