College Lecturer Registration

In March 2018 Colleges Scotland Employers Association and the EIS – Further Education Lecturers’ Association (EIS-FELA) agreed that mandatory registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTC Scotland) was part of the outcome of national bargaining (NJNC Circular 03/18). Registration with GTC Scotland now forms part of the agreed national terms and conditions of employment for all college lecturers.

College Lecturers covered by the NJNC agreements (all unpromoted and promoted lecturers at levels 1, 2 and 3) who received an invitation to register with GTC Scotland between September 2021 and June 2022 should apply using the appropriate link below.

These invitations were issued to lecturers with 190 days’ teaching experience in a college setting who hold either: a TQFE; a GTC Scotland recognised primary or secondary teaching qualification gained in Scotland; or an equivalent teaching qualification gained outside of Scotland.

The College Lecturer Registration Working Group continues to focus on establishing routes to registration for college lecturers who do not meet the above requirements.
