What is MyGTCS?
MyGTCS is your personalised and secure web portal from GTC Scotland that's only available to provisionally or fully registered teachers.
All information is stored securely on our database until such time as a user chooses to unsubscribe or de-register.
What can I do in MyGTCS?
- View and update your personal details.
- View and contribute to any portfolios, profiles or reports.
- View newsletter subscriptions.
- Gain access to additional services provided by GTC Scotland.
Changes to Password Reminders
On log-in, you will see a message which will prompt you to provide two new pieces of data: Secondary email and Mobile number. The pop-up message will be displayed at a frequency of once every three days until you provide the information. This data will be used to increase the security of how we manage your MyGTCS passwords.
We have updated our password security and no longer provide any MyGTCS password information over the telephone or via email. You will now be able to reset your password using the Reset Password link.
If you do not receive the password reset email, please check your email junk folder.

'Invalid username or password' message
This happens if a password is mis-spelt or capitals have been missed etc. Also make sure you are not using a forward slash, spaces or full stops.
'We have not been able to verify your username, password or Date of birth' message
Email email@example.com stating the error.

If you have forgotten your username you will need to contact us and provide the answer to some security questions.
Refresh your browser to see system updates
In order to see any recent changes to our systems, we recommend that you carry out a hard refresh (holding Control key and F5 at the same time) of your browser before using the system. This will enable all styling changes to take effect.
Engagement in the Professional Update process is a requirement for registration with us and impacts all current registrants. The Professional Update sign-off process occurs on a 5-yearly cycle.
When should I undertake my Professional Update sign-off?
The Professional Update sign-off process occurs on a 5-yearly cycle with registrants expected to undertake their sign-off by the end of the academic session, normally by 1 July. The year in which a registrant is required to undertake their sign-off is dependent upon their GTCS registration number. Find out which year applies to you:
- 2014/15 - registrants with a GTCS registration number of x9xxxx and x4xxxx
- 2015/16 - registrants with a GTCS registration number of x0xxxx and x5xxxx
- 2016/17 - registrants with a GTCS registration number of x1xxxx and x6xxxx
- 2017/18 - registrants with a GTCS registration number of x2xxxx and x7xxxx
- 2018/19 - registrants with a GTCS registration number of x3xxxx and x8xxxx

If you are involved in the Teacher Induction Scheme - as a probationer, supporter, mentor or headteacher - then you do not need to register for a My GTCS account; an account has automatically been created for you.
If you are looking for the online profile system, this can be found by clicking the Teacher Induction Profiles link under the MyLinks section on the left of each page.
Probationers will get access to their profile any time from mid August to mid September. If you don't have access by mid September, please contact your local authority manager.
Guidance notes are available within the Profile section of MyGTCS. You will gain access to this area once your local authority probation manager has assigned you to your probationer(s).
