Professional Learning Award for Organisations

This award celebrates Organisations which support and promote teacher professional learning. The GTCS award identifies organisations which aim through their work:

"to develop and enhance teachers' knowledge, expertise and skill; develop their professionalism, and to impact positively on learning experiences and outcomes of children and young people" (GTCS Professional Learning Model 2017).

The GTCS Professional Learning Model provides coherent guidance on what high quality, effective professional learning looks like. It identifies the core purposes and principles of learning and offers strategic guidance for teachers and leaders on how to support, structure and plan for professional learning. It requires teachers' learning to be:

  • Purposeful and focussed on outcomes and impact
  • Aligned to the needs of the children and young people and their context
  • Sustained and high quality
  • Flexible and diverse
  • Relevant and meaningful for the individual
  • Develop knowledge and expertise, enhance practices, build on strengths and pursue interests
