Changes to Letter of Professional Standing
From 9 January 2012 a £30 administration charge will apply to teachers requesting a Letter of Professional Standing (LOPS). LOPS are often required by teachers intending to teach abroad who must show proof of their registration with us. In most cases a Certificate of Registration will satisfy this requirement however some countries may not accept this or require additional proof.
The letter states that you are registered with us, or are eligible for registration in terms of the Teaching Council (Scotland) Act 1965, Section 6(2). The letter will state that you are either qualified as a Primary/Secondary Education teacher and if secondary what subject. It will also confirm that your registration was not suspended, revoked or cancelled for any reason.
