If you fall pregnant during the induction scheme year and need to take time off work, the procedures are that all days absence would be counted and these would then be reported to us at the end of the school year (June 2008) with a recommendation for an extension for the same number of days.
The local authority would allocate you a placement (usually some time between September and March during the next school year) and you would be given the full support (0.7 timetable etc) as you had during the initial part of the induction scheme.
You would be expected to remain with the same local authority but you would not necessarily remain at the same school.
If you choose to leave the induction scheme and continue on the alternative route, you would have to source your own employment, you would not receive the same support and the probation period increases from 190 days (a full school year) to 270 days (a full year and a term) – it is usually in the best interest of the probationer to remain on the induction scheme if they are able to do so as full support will be given.
You should discuss this further with your Probation Manager at your Local Authority.
