    East Lothian Council Probationers!!

    Hey,

Just wondering if there are any other East Lothian probationers as I ticked the box and have been allocated there so it would be good to hear from anyone else who will be teaching in this area :-)

    Hey Laura

East Lothian was my first choice and I got it!

Finally I will get some resemblance of a normal life....hubby has commuted from Dundee-Edinburgh every day for 3 years and for the past year I've split my time between Dundee for placement and Aberdeen for uni.

East Lothian is going to be bliss!  We looked at a few houses last week and have agreed a rental on a cottage in Haddington...very excited!

Where have your placements been this year and what subject are you?

    Hey Suzanne,

I'm from the Falkirk area although will be renting as soon as I find out exactly where my school is, a bit disappointed that we haven't found out yet ;-(   Both of my placements have been in Glasgow but I'm really excited about coming to East Lothian!!  I'm teaching Religious Studies, do you have any idea what the schools are like? It will be good to meet up with everyone at the induction days.

     Hi Laura

I'm teaching RMPS too!  So unlikely we'll be teaching in the same school but good to know there's two probationers (at least?) for RMPS within the same LEA!  There's 8 in my class at UoA and 3 (!!!) got Aberdeen City Council...crazy stuff.  The schools in East Lothian are pretty good - the area is generally fairly affluent but as you know there's never a blanket rule to anything in life!  I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that the kids only go to school 4.5 days a week in East Lothian!

I can't wait to find out which school I'm in!

    Hey again Suzie,

Aw that's really cool that you're RE aswell, we should defo catch up at the induction! Yeah most of the area looks really nice, i'm pretty excited about moving there. I wasn't aware that the kids are only in 4.5 days, so I take it they are half day on a Friday?

Hello to both of you :) I also have been allocated to East Lothian council...meeting last week was quite a wasted trip I felt just for forms and wish they would just tell us our schools so I can find a place to live :) I have seen Musselburgh and Haddington and defo like what I see so far and cannot wait to start in August :D Paul

    Hi Laura

Yeah the kids are only in 4.5 days - saves the dreaded period 6 Friday afternoon slot when kids are difficult to get going!

We're moving through to Haddington around the first week of July - you're more than welcome to visit before induction if you like!  Even pool resources and do a bit of a swap lol!  I'll PM you my details if you like?

    Hey Paul.

Are you primary or secondary (subject)?

I'm so jealous of people who already know their schools...so many of my classmates already know!  It's really frustrating!

    Where are you hoping for?

Hi Laura, Suzie and Paul :)

I have also been allocated to East Lothian Council to teach RE, and I am very excited that I am not the only one!!  We should definetly catch up at the Local Authority Induction Days at the beginning of August.  East Lothian was my 5th choice, and I am relocationg from Glasgow.  Again, I am also disapointed that we have not found out our schools yet, giving that I need to find accomodation and would prefer it to be close to the school I am allocated. Hopefully we will find out by the end of this week so we have time to visit the school before the end of term. Is everyone excited about the year ahead?

Looking forward to meeting you alll,

    Stacey :)

    3 RMPS probationers?!?

As I say, if anyone wants a bed for a night or two when they're through to visit etc the area, I'm more than happy to have people with us whilst they scout out the area.

I can't wait...not long now...9 weeks on Monday term starts!

I know, it seems crazy considering there are only 6 secondary schools in the council! That is lovely, thank you very much for the offer! I think it is a really good idea if you both want to meet before hand to get to know each other and talk through the topics that we will be covering in our schools (once we find out which schools we have been allocated to), and you are all welcome to the resources I have if they will be of any use to you. Let me know what you think?!

Wow that is a lot of RMPS probationers :O I am Technical and really hoping for one of the four schools in the west side :) Although I am happy to take any of them tbh :) Anyone got any idea when we may find out? Frustrates me as most of my classmates know their school. Paul

    Hi Paul,

When i went to the Local Authority Day last week I bumped into a girl who thought we may know by Friday this week.  I think she knew someone who went through the process last year and that seemed to be the case then.  I think we are notified via email so just keep your eyes on them.  However, saying that, Anne told me that it could take any time up to 4 weeks before we find out because our existing PVG member forms need to be returned to them before they disclose any more information.  Very confusing, but I am hoping it will be before the end of term at least so we can go and visit our schools.

Hi Stacey, Yeh Anne said same to me I did think it was a waste travelling through just for what it was but oh well :) I really do hope we find out soon and not the 4 weeks wait, I want to visit my school and really want a place I seen in Musselburgh but don't want to go for it incase I end up in Dunbar hehe Paul

    Hi Paul, Stacey, Suzanne!!

It's great news that there are three of us (so far) teaching RMPS and I am more than happy to meet up when we find out our schools to swap resources etc...... As far as I am aware the council meetings end today so hopefully we will find out by Friday where we will be placed, although I have also been told that there could be a delay depending on the turn around from the PVG. Suzie, that would be great if you could send me your details. Really excited about meeting you all and getting to know you!

    Laura.
