In 2006 we reported on surveys reflecting on Head Teachers' and Supporters' experiences of the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS). This new report explores in more depth some of the issues raised by the earlier reports. It is the result of a series of focus groups held with Head Teachers and Supporters in seven local authorities.
The report looks at how people become Supporters, what training they receive, what they do to balance the role of being a Supporter with their other responsibilities and what support they have from their schools and local authorities. It also examines what Supporters and Head Teachers do to offer CPD opportunities for probationers and discusses the impact of dealing with probationers who struggle to reach the Standard.
