We are sure you will find teaching a stimulating, satisfying and rewarding vocation which will present you with continuing challenges as the face of education in Scotland continues to evolve.

We would strongly recommend that you bookmark this page and visit it on a regular basis. In addition you can receive regular e-bulletins by signing up using the online form below.

Applying for Provisional Registration

 Top Tips for Teachers
Keep an eye on the staffroom notice boards

Teachers don’t read notices on staffroom walls. Unless your staffroom wall is updated regularly, information that goes on it will be lost in a time warp.

Watch out for the staff party pictures, which get sneaked onto notice boards. You may not look your best photographed under harsh lights when you were obviously trying to focus after a small sherry, but swallow your pride and enter into the spirit of staffroom community.
All students currently undertaking teacher education and are scheduled to graduate in 2009 are now required to apply for provisional registration.

When you apply you will be asked to give your preferences for your Teacher Induction post. It is very important that you take care when making your preferred choices and we would urge you to investigate the local authority areas.

Some of you will wish to do your Teacher Induction in Jordanhill School, Glasgow. The school is within the Glasgow catchment area, therefore, if you wish to be considered for Jordanhill School, your first preference should be Glasgow. If you are subsequently allocated to Glasgow Local Authority, it will be their decision if you are then placed in the school.

For those students who have already nominated Jordanhill, you will be contacted by the Teacher Registration Department in the very near future.

Applications for provisional registration are made using our online Student Application Form.

Withdrawn from your course?

If you have decided to withdraw from teacher education, you must inform your university and GTC Scotland. You can inform GTC Scotland by emailing studentadmin@gtcs.org.uk stating your full name, date of birth and university.
