Registration

pen and notepaper

Registration is a mark of Professional Recognition as a teacher and ensures that standards of entry to the profession are maintained.

In order to be fully registered, all teachers must achieve the Standard for Full Registration.

All teachers employed in Local Authority schools require to be registered with GTC Scotland and are required to maintain that registration on an annual basis by payment of The Registration Fee.  Teachers in the independent sector may also require registration.

Trained in Scotland

To be eligible for registration in Scotland you must have a relevant degree and a recognised teaching qualification.  Teachers who qualified in Scotland will gain registration automatically.

Qualified Outside Scotland (including other parts of the UK)

If you qualified outside of Scotland you should refer to our Qualified Outside Scotland pages.
