Proof of Registration

Changing Local Authority

When changing local authority you may be asked for proof of registration. This can be done in two ways:

  • Supplying a copy of your March/April payslip showing the annual GTC Scotland registration fee deduction.
  • Asking the local authority to Search the Register of teachers.

Teaching outside of Scotland and looking for confirmation of teaching qualifications

Following recent legal advice, GTC Scotland will no longer issue Letters of Professional Standing.

If you are registered with us you should be in possession of a Certificate of Registration and this should be sufficient proof for authorities overseas. If you require a duplicate copy of your Certificate of Registration, we can supply this at a cost of £25.

If you completed your teacher education in Scotland but never registered with GTC Scotland and require proof of your qualification, you should contact the university where you completed your course for evidence of the successful completion of your studies and the award of a Teaching Qualification.

Should you wish to register and have a certificate of registration issued, please go to http://www.gtcs.org.uk/Registration/request_for_application_form.aspx to request an application pack.
