Lapsed Membership

If you have allowed your registration to lapse, and you would now like to return to the classroom, you will have to reapply by completing the following documents:

• Application form
• Enhanced Disclosure Scotland application

To request an application form, please complete the Request for Application Form.

You will also be required to pay a re-registration fee of £55.00.

Overseas Criminal Record Check

If you have spent 3 months or more in a single period outside the United Kingdom during the last 10 years, we will require an overseas criminal record check. This also applies if born and lived overseas to adulthood.

What happens next?

Once the registration process is complete and you have paid the initial registration fee, you will receive a letter confirming your registration status with GTC Scotland. Please note that if you have any probationary service to complete you will find information regarding The Standard for Full Registration on our Probationer Teacher Scotland website.

Please note, some local authorities require teachers who have been out of the profession for a number of years to complete a return to teaching/refresher course. We have produced some information on refresher courses which may interest you.
