You are now nearing the end of your teacher training and probably looking forward to a well deserved rest over the Summer months.
The following information will help to ensure that you know what to expect from us over the next few weeks so that you are prepared to take up your Teacher Induction post in August 2010.
If you have been asked for a registration number on an application form for your local authority, please note that this will not be issued until after we have received the university pass list and you have paid your initial registration fee. This will be in mid to late July. In the meantime you can use your membership number which you received when applying on-line. This is 8 digits ending with a letter.
Please note that our registration fee increased by £5 on 1 April to £60. we will receive university pass lists from 1 July and in light of this we are unable to take payment until these lists have been received.
We will contact you by letter in due course regarding your registration.
If you have decided to withdraw from the Teacher Induction Scheme, please let your university and us know as soon as possible by emailing studentadmin@gtcs.org.uk stating your full name, date of birth and university. Please note that the Student Administrator will confirm your withdrawal with your university before taking any action, so it is very important that you inform your university.
It is very important that you keep us informed of any changes of your personal details, including postal and email addresses. You can change your details by emailing registration@gtcs.org.uk or by logging into your MyGTCS account.
Without up to date information, you may not receive your provisional certificate when registered and this will be required by your allocated local authority.
If you are eligible for the Teacher Induction Scheme 2010/11 you will receive your allocation letter by the end of May 2010. You will also receive an information leaflet showing, amongst other things, the dates of the local authority induction days. It's very important that you make every effort to attend your particular induction day because the local authority will be on hand to assist with any problems or issues that you might have.
The 2010 local authority dates are updated as we receive them. If your local authority has not given dates yet, please do keep visiting this page to check.
If we have contacted you, please ensure that all information requested is returned to us as soon as possible. If you have not yet completed a Disclosure form, please email studentadmin@gtcs.org.uk to arrange for a new form to be issued. You can't be registered if you haven't been disclosed.
If you have spent 3 months or more in a non UK country over the last 10 years, we will require an overseas criminal record check. This only applies if you have remained in the country for 3 months or more in one single period. An overseas criminal records check is also required for students who were born and have lived overseas until adulthood.
You should obtain an official statement confirming that you do not have a criminal record or criminal proceedings pending. This can be obtained from police of judicial authorities, government departments or your Home Embassy in the country or countries concerned. The police check should cover the entire country, not simply one state or province (e.g. FBI clearance for USA and RCMP clearance for Canada).
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) provides an Overseas Information Service. For overseas enquiries, phone 0870 909 0811, open Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
If you prefer to send your enquiry online, go to General Enquiry Form, compete your personal details and select 'overseas' from the dropdown box.
