The Assessment Process and Fee

The non-refundable assessment fee is £55, it will increase to £60 from 1 April 2010. This fee covers the assessment of your case and initial Enhanced Disclosure Scotland. It is separate from the £55 initial registration fee.

Upon receipt of your application form, necessary documentation and £55 non-refundable , we will assess your application. This includes:

  • assessing your qualifications to check that you meet the requirements for registration
  • checking the Disclosure Scotland application form for accuracy and ensuring that all relevant sections are completed
  • contacting the two referees named in the application form

Important: You must obtain and include with you application all of the required documentation. Failure to do this will result in your application being delayed. It may also lead to your application being closed and destroyed. If this happens you will be required to re-apply and you will be treated as a new applicant who will be required to complete another application form, provide supporting documentation and pay the non-refundable assessment fee.

Please note, that during busy periods it can take several weeks to reach the outcome of assessment depending on the complexity of the case.

Payment methods

We accept payment by the following methods:

  • Cheques (in Sterling) made payable to "GTC Scotland"
  • Sterling Bankers Draft (drawn on a UK bank)
  • Credit/Debit card
  • Postal orders if issued in the UK.

We do not accept payment by money order. Sending this will delay your application.

What happens next?

Once we have the necessary documentation to assess your case, It will be allocated to your case assessor who will write to you informing you of the outcome of assessment.
