Disclosure Scotland
Disclosure Scotland provides an accurate and responsive disclosure service to enhance security, public safety and protect the vulnerable in society.
GTC Scotland require an Enhanced Disclosure on all applicants who wish to join our register of teachers.
Enhanced Disclosure
We require you to complete an enhanced disclosure check which may contain non conviction information and is a requirement for those who apply for work that involves caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults.
Employers have a statutory requirement to employ only teachers who are currently registered. The enhanced disclosure check is a key element to the GTC Scotland registration process.
In addition to an enhanced disclosure check, we may also require you to undertake overseas criminal record checks if you have spent longer than 3 months outside the United Kingdom in the last 10 years. This also applies if you were born and lived overseas until adulthood.
How much does it cost?
The cost of one Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check is included in the £55 registration fee. The check is accepted for six months from date of issue.
If your application is not concluded and the initial registration fee is paid within six months of the date of issue an up to date check will be required. You may be liable for the fee, which is currently £23 and is payable to Disclosure Scotland.
As of August 1, the cost of a Disclosure Scotland application is now £23.00.
Disclosure Application Form
Upon receipt of your application for registration, GTC Scotland will send you a Disclosure Scotland Application Form. Please complete and return this to us, along with the required proof of identity: photocopy of birth certificate, passport or driver's licence.
Important Note: Do not use any other application form, only the one supplied by GTC Scotland.

Please note that the Disclosure Certificate is only valid on the date it is produced by Disclosure Scotland.
