Disclosure Scotland

We require you to complete an enhanced disclosure check which may contain non conviction information and is a requirement for those who apply for work that involves caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults.

Employers have a  statutory requirement to employ only teachers who are currently registered. The enhanced disclosure check is a key element to the GTC Scotland registration process.

In addition to an enhanced disclosure check, we may also require you to undertake if you have spent longer than 3 months outside the United Kingdom in the last 10 years. This also applies if you were born and lived overseas until adulthood.

How much does it cost?

The cost of a Disclosure Scotland background check is included in the £55 registration fee.

Disclosure Application Form

Upon receipt of your application for registration, GTC Scotland will send you a Disclosure Scotland Application Form. Please complete and return this to us, along with the required proof of identity: photocopy of birth certificate, passport or driver's licence.

Important Note: Do not use any other application form, only the one supplied by GTC Scotland.

We require you to pay The Registration Fee within 6 months of the certificate date. If your fee is not paid within this period, your file will be closed and you will have to re-apply for registration.

If you do not wish to take up registration prior to 31 March, we would suggest that you leave the submission of your application until nearer the start of the registration year on 1 April.
