The Guidelines for Initital Teacher Education (ITE) Courses in Scotland (pdf) sets out the Secretary of State for Scotland's policy on the content, nature and duration of initial teacher education (ITE) courses in Scotland, leading to teaching qualifications (TQs) for the primary and secondary sectors.
The overall aim of ITE courses is to prepare students to become competent and thoughtful practitioners, who are committed to providing high quality teaching for all pupils.
