GTC Scotland's Regulatory Role

The Council has a duty in law to adjudicate complaints concerning any individual teacher in connection with:

  1. Serious Professional Incompetence - Serious failure to meet or maintain the standard of competence required of a registered teacher as prescribed by the Standard for Full Registration
  2. Relevant Misconduct - Conduct which falls short of the standard expected of a registered teacher
  3. Relevant Criminal Offence - An offence other than one having no material relevance to the fitness of the perpetrator to be a registered teacher
