Eligibility

To be eligible for the Teacher Induction Scheme students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must graduate from a Scottish Higher Institution
  • Training must have been publicly funded (this includes students from other parts of the UK and other parts of the EU provided they have been assessed as eligible for home fees).

Publicly funded fees can be paid in a number of different ways:

  • SAAS
  • Local Education Authorities
  • Self-funded
  • Northern Ireland Education
  • Library Boards

GTC Scotland is responsible for allocating probationers to the 32 Scottish Local Authorities each year

Students who are not eligible

Students are not eligible to join the Teacher Induction Scheme if they have paid oversees or full fees as they have not been in publicly funded places.

Students who are not eligible, or do not wish to take part in the scheme can choose to follow the Flexible Route to meet the The Standard for Full Registration (SFR).

Teachers Qualified Outside Scotland may also need to complete a probationary period.
