All you need to know to cast your ballot by 2 February

Have your say by voting in the 2018 GTCS Council Election

Ballot emails, with your unique PIN to vote and a link to the election website were issued on 10 January 2018. In accordance with the GTCS Election Scheme, ballots will be held for each of the categories where nominations exceed the seats available.

*Category I: Teachers (including headteachers) in Primary Schools and Nursery Schools in Scotland
• Total of six seats. Four seats for a four-year term, including one reserved headteacher seat.
• Two interim seats for a two-year term, including one reserved headteacher seat.

*Category II: Teachers (including headteachers) in Secondary Schools in Scotland
• Total of four seats, including one reserved headteacher seat for a four-year term and one interim seat for a two-year term.

*Category III: Teacher/Lecturer in the Further Education Sector in Scotland (one seat)
• No ballot is required as the number of candidates did not exceed the number of seats. The candidate is elected unopposed.

Now it’s up to you

You have until 5pm on 2 February 2018 to vote. Your ballot email will give you all of the information you need in order to vote. The online voting system will be open 24 hours a day until voting closes.

If you have not received your ballot email with your unique PIN and link to the election website to vote by 17 January 2018, please contact Electoral Reform Services at or by phone on 020 8889 9203.

Remember to check your spam or junk folder first. If, for any reason, you are not able to set up an email address or are unable to receive emails, please let Lisa Dobie, Returning Officer, know as soon as possible so that we can make alternative arrangements for you to receive the relevant ballot instructions and your PIN to allow you to cast your vote online.
