Poems for Teachers

Scottish Poetry Library

Newly qualified teachers in 2018 will be welcomed with a gift that lets them know they are not alone, whatever challenges they meet.

With support from professional organisations across the Scottish education sector, a pocket-sized book of poems about teaching will be given to all teachers beginning their career – and every teacher will recognise the experiences described.

Chosen by teachers for teachers, published not-for-profit by the Scottish Poetry Library, these poems can be funny, serious, inspiring. They offer a way to reflect on experience and sustain teachers throughout their careers.

We need your help pre-publication – to look at a few of the poems, and if one of them rings true from your own teaching experience, write up to 40 words about why.

Interested? Contact us – whatever your specialism! – by 27 November at poemsforteachers@spl.org.uk
