The Register

If you are a teacher, local authority employer, another Teaching Council or a member of the public, you are able to Search the Register of Teachers.

We are required, under the Teaching Council Scotland Act 1965 to maintain a register of teachers. This register holds the name, contact details, registration number, registration status and qualifications of every teacher qualified to teach in a state school in Scotland.

Local Authority Employers

Local authority employers have access to an employers version of the Register and may use this to carry our simple checks to verify a teachers registration status or qualifications.

Public

The public have a right to know and be reassured that teachers are suitably qualified and fit to teach. To this effect they can search the Register to check a teachers current registration status.
